Since I did a major factory reset on my work PC, I lost my Tweetdeck and Seesmic. I have been switching back and forth between these two fantastic Twitter desktop applications for Windows. Since I tweet mainly using my Blackberry, I only use my desktop Twitter application when my mobile is dead and charging, but I truly steer clear from Twitter desktop applications because I find it obtrusive. Put those babies on and say goodbye to work. You know what I mean.

Enter A.Plus, another Twitter desktop application recently launched by movie star-producer-Twitter-icon Ashton Kutcher with Ubermedia. Kutcher is already one of the more popular celebrities on Twitter — beating out CNN as the first to reach 1 million followers on the service — and a high-profile investor in the California tech industry. The app is free and currently available only on PCs, not tablets or smartphones. Pasadena-based UberMedia, which is known which making UberSocial, Twiddroyd and Echofon, built the app to Kutcher’s specifications.

So how do I like A.Plus? If you want preview the websites, images and videos within one application, this is the way to go. Its like Rockmelt, but with access to your Twitter timeline and whatever list you want to track. Not bad. But I want to be able to login to multiple Twitter accounts. I tried using A.Plus for one day, doing some work on the side using Live Preview. Not bad. You can collapse the columns so it’ll be less obtrusive. Not bad.

So will I stick to A.Plus? For now, yes. I use Co-Tweet to manage my multiple Twitter accounts anyway. But for my own Twitter pleasure on my desktop, A.Plus is great for now since I believe that Tweetdeck will have more features coming up eversince Tweetdeck was acquired by Twitter.

To download A.Plus: http://www.aplus-app.com/

To get Tweetdeck: http://www.tweetdeck.com

If you are familiar with Twitter and Facebook, then PicLyf is nothing new to you. Think photo stream on real-time. Like Twitter, you could follow friends and even earn badges like that of Foursquare. Since joining PicLyf, I have earned 7 badges. One of them was for uploading and sharing my Wordcamp Philippines 2010 picture with WordPress Founder, Matt Mullenweg as well as the thumbs up badge for sending a webcam image of myself givingPicLyf my approval. :) Nothing beats acknowledgement through badges.

I heard about Piclyf at the Wordcamp Philippines 2010. Eric Clark Su gave a wonderful presentation, detailing the ongoing development of a local start-up– PicLyf. Proud to say that this start-up is based in Davao no less. :) Go, go, go Mindanao!

So PicLyf is basically another social media portal wherein a registered user can upload their images via webcam, smartphones and even email. Through live stream, you could visualize the stream of images coming on real-time. Since I am not new to image streaming (meaning DailyBooth), using PicLyf was easy for me. Its not exactly rocket science and I am happy to say that uploading images through your iPhone and Blackberry is simple than uploading images on Facebook!

Listen, most the people I am following are from Mindanao, and most I have met and seen during Wordcamp. It is nice to keep tabs of them however way they wanted to share their day with me. I love the fact that my friends on PicLyf took the time to snap a quick photo for me to see and comment on.

So you might want to know why you should join another social media portal… well, if you are a virtual maven like myself, one can use PicLyf to meet new people as well as maintain connection with acquaintances. I have also integrated my Piclyf account with Twitter and Facebook. Its nice to be able to post images in one place and be able to share them with friends who have yet to join Piclyf.

If you register today, you will notice that most of the people you would see are from Mindanao! Yey! I love the fact that you are not just following strangers, but these are people you most likely bump into one day!

You can find me on Piclyf by searching for @lifediscourse.

@lifediscourse on PicLyf

I really do not care who is following me because I have seem to attract enough Internet Marketers and spambots that I stopped wondering who my followers are. For some reason, some felt it is interesting to follow my tweets, but I like following my favorite Twitterfolk.

As I continue to tweet and retweet information which I think were worth retweeting and relevant, I can now understand what @davewiner has said about the importance of real time information and how it is important for blogging to join in the foray of the release of real time information now or be obsolete.

It was amazing how I have watched and lurked @davewiner, @Om, @Scobleizer and the honcho of WordPress himself @photomatt discuss the future of blogging as it rides and innovates along with Twitter, Facebook and FriendFeed.

Weeks ago, I have asked my Twitter friends why they tweet and their answers were:

@abeolandres- famed local blogger, entrepreneur and founder of Yugatech.com, he tweets because its saves him more money. It is amazing how some people use Twitter like SMS messaging– another way to communicate and send messages, not just to the person himself, but this message will go along the stream of real time messages, thereby reaching other people who may or may not be interested of the exchange.

For businessman, @magnotti, who is part owner of @TryBPO, he uses Twitter because it is quick and easy, especially with programs like Seesmic. As a business owner, @TryBPO uses Twitter to send and share information about the benefits of outsourcing and how affordable it is.

According to big time blogger, Connie Veneracion also known as @sassylawyer, “what’s too short for a blog entry goes into Twitter.” For mom blogger and business owner, @brandyellen, “twitter allows me to connect on amore personal 1-1 way with bloggers and pros in a way Facebook cannot.”

Just imagine us cramming some cohesive message into 14o characters! Just imagine the power of real time information running through Twitter! I can only imagine what the servers of Twitter looked like. In time, Twitter will be as big as Google… In the end, I agree with @MarieisRukia that “Twitter is a faster, simpler way of sharing and getting information with less fuss and minus the crap we don’t need.”

So, why do you tweet?

In response to @ryanbarr’s contest sent via Twitter, I would definitely love to win a $50 or $25 Apple Gift Card from Spookyismy.name – Web Design and Development. To comply with the contest rules, here are my response:

1. What you would do with your Apple Gift Card if you won?

If I would win, I would definitely get myself a subscription of MobileMe or a Mac Box Set if I have extra money to cover the balance.

It’d be nice to get an upgrade from my older OSX!

2. Who do you find most inspiring and why?

I find Matt Mullenweg because of his achievements as well as his influence in the development of WordPress and other web applications. He is inspiring especially to the youth and to web users because of his dedication and obvious talent as well as intelligence and his hardwork in harnessing his craft.

3. Your Twitter username so others can follow you if they please. (Not required.)

Anyone interested on SAHM tips as well as VA tips can follow my progress via Twitter @lifediscourse.
