There is no doubt that I am on the lookout for another bank. I am greatly dissatisfied over the performance of Banco de Oro especially with their poor internet banking facility. Darn it! My family used to have accounts with Citibank and their internet facility is up to the nines. Transferring funds here and abroad is such a breeze. Paying for bills online can be done with a click of the mouse.
I even had a claims dispute years ago with Citibank, of which I was charged 5 times of the same magazine subscription and after I complained, the amount was credited back to my account the next day. It was such easy breezy operation that I am dumbfolded over the internet banking facility of Banco de Oro when it is supposed to be one of the biggest banks in the country.
Years ago, I also held an account with Metrobank and years ago, the local banks were just starting their online facilities. Metrobank‘s interface was not very good but it was fast rendering. I have never tried their bills payment facility since my Citibank was doing that job efficiently. Paying PLDT and Meralco online was so convenient.
Now I am on the hunt for a new bank. I want a bank that has Banco de Oro’s late hours, and with Citibank’s outstanding internet facility. Is there any bank that fit the bill?
Feedback, anyone?

I have a pending claims dispute with my local bank, Banco de Oro. It all started when the cashier at Makro swiped my debit card THRICE after their POS machine said “comm error” on its teeny screen. I got tired of the “error messages” so I told the cashier to cancel the debit card payment and I decided to withdraw some cash using the same card at the ATM located in the store. After withdrawing and looking at the receipt, I noticed something amiss. Since my children were all running around amok in Makro, I told everybody to get out and off we went after I settled the bills in cash.
I checked my transactions at BDO Online and saw that I was indeed charged. The charged went through and I also paid for the same transaction iun cash. D a m n ! ! ! I called the BDO Hotline and reported the discrepancies. I was only given an incident number and was promised a refund in 10 days… Its over a month now and darn, BDO, I want my money back!!!

The check issued to me bounced today. I almost collapsed while hanging on to my cellphone like a lifeline. Yes, like a —-
l i f e l i n e . . .
I have actually seen this coming… Last month, the tenant of my condo in Manila had told my broker to inform me not to deposit the check issued last month since her account has insufficient funds. D a r n. The lease was one week late. And now, it has happened again…
I am flabbergasted, disappointed, annoyed and irked that the money I was expecting to use for this month is not here. I remembered thanking God for my new tenant who actually signed a one-year least contract with us and has issued one-year worth of lease with 12 post-dated checks. I was happy because it has more or less guaranteed that my children and I will have some income since my darling husband has denied us support. (now that is another entry) More or less… More like less since this has happened last month and again this month.
I feel so hopeless because I am here and the tenant and my unit is in Manila. Hopelessness is a feeling I dread. The immediate effect of economics on myself and the children as soon as we reached Manila after I had decided to leave my husband abroad was devastating. I have learned little by little and sometimes, I think, the hard way, to manage the little money we get for the lease of our family home.
At any rate, the bank has informed my tenant, the check issuer, that her check bounced. She promised to send the rent via Western Union today so this is really a wait and see situation. I am not in a good mood, and the waiting is killing me.
