BDO- I want my money back
I have a pending claims dispute with my local bank, Banco de Oro. It all started when the cashier at Makro swiped my debit card THRICE after their POS machine said “comm error” on its teeny screen. I got tired of the “error messages” so I told the cashier to cancel the debit card payment and I decided to withdraw some cash using the same card at the ATM located in the store. After withdrawing and looking at the receipt, I noticed something amiss. Since my children were all running around amok in Makro, I told everybody to get out and off we went after I settled the bills in cash.
I checked my transactions at BDO Online and saw that I was indeed charged. The charged went through and I also paid for the same transaction iun cash. D a m n ! ! ! I called the BDO Hotline and reported the discrepancies. I was only given an incident number and was promised a refund in 10 days… Its over a month now and darn, BDO, I want my money back!!!
Read MoreMelamine– Why you should be concerned…
I just read from my FDA feed that there is a recall for White Rabbit Candies in the United States due to possible contamination of melamine. Not only that, Cadbury is also recalling 11 types of chocolate products found to be laced in melamine. Remember, all of this started when the infant milk in China was found positive with melamine.
What is melamine and why should we be concerned about it when I have read in an article that “melamine in food products is considered safe by Hong Kong health authorities at 2.5 parts per million or less.” First what is melamine? Melamine is a plastic made from copolymerizing a white crystalline solid with formaldehyde; it is also a compound used in resins used to manufacture synthetic resins in leather tanning. Warning signs!!! Leather tanning? Formaldehyde?!? Plastics??? The scandal in China broke out when it was reported that Sanlu’s infant formula is causing kidney stones in infants and children. It can also cause urinary tract infections, eye and skin irritations… Due to the serious effect of the infant milk which was found to cause death, our BFAD has also banned liquid and powdered milk, candy and biscuits, chocolate bars and drinks, including yogurt and dairy drinks from China– which includes my favorite candy– White Rabbit.
What is bothering is the fact that as usual it was found out that Chinese milk macufacturers has already received complaints about the milk since 2007. Remember during the SARS, including the Avian flu crisis, China has not been upfront about the real number of casualties to the media. China has been so scared of liabilities that they are hiding behind their “red cloak.” Now Chinese officials believe that suppliers added melamine– which is rich in nitrogen, to watered-down milk to deceive quality tests for protein. Do we expect full disclosure from China? Currently, the EU, the US and other countries has banned the importation and use of dairy products coming from China. As usual, all these– when the damage has been done already.

Would you eat ice cream made from breast milk?
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has requested ice cream maker Ben and Jerry to consider using breastmilk as opposed to cows milk in order to “reduce the suffering of cows and calves and give ice cream lovers a healthier product.” PETA has written the honchos behind Ben and Jerry stating that ice cream eaters would benefit more with ice cream made from breast milk than from cows since diary products are the main cause of obesity anyway.
PETA‘s proposal has been dismissed by Ben and Jerry and why wouldn’t they? The idea of using mother’s milk for public consumption is ridiculous. And besides, how can you process mother’s milk into ice cream? But first things first…
Would you eat that ice cream? Personally, I would, only if it came from my own mother’s breast! (LOL)

There is no doubt that I need to find a job. I am also on the lookout for businesses to open in my own little town here in Northern Mindanao. Opening my own sari-sari store is obviously not my thing and I do not see selling load as my bread and butter. Hayyy, the stressful living of married, er single motherhood. So solution? I am on the hunt for a Virtual Assistance job scouring Craigslist and other websites like monster and our local listings. Craigslist has a myriad of authentic and legitimate job hunters and sadly scammers are also posting their non-sense so people like my has to wade through some bullshits before finding the rare and authentic posts. Part of the adventure of job hunting in the digital age, I guess.
Anyway, I have been sending off my resume for 5 VA positions mostly in the Philippines, and I got a response from AICOM in Manila and I received a call from them asking me to come tomorrow for exam and interview. My mistake was assuming that the VA job was home based or at least telecommuting is allowed– wrong. So, its my loss really since I obviously am not in Manila and cannot fly and work there… The chance and opportunity was not for me so, moving on…
So I am on the trail for THE dream Work at Home Gig. I am technically harnessing my resume and eversince I got that call from Aicom, I am happier that my resume was noticed. But anyway, I know I am more than qualified for the VA stint having worked for a huge company eons ago as an executive assistant.
So what is my dream job? I want a job that I can do at the privacy of my own home. A job that can support my children and at the same time, I can be near them 24/7. Any VA job would be great but the Philippines has not opened its door 100% to telecomuting. I am also scouring VA jobs elsewhere hoping I will stumble on some legitimate search. So, guys, wish me luck…

I have blogged and known about WordPress since it was launched but I never took the time to know the people behind the open source blogging platform. I came across Mindanao Bloggers and found out about the most recent Wordcamp here in the country. Wordcamp is a gathering of WordPress users sponsored by world renowned Automattic, which was rumored to have just rejected an offer. That and the most recent acquisition of Intense Debate.
Now, from the Mindanao Bloggers entry about the Wordcamp Philippines and the upcoming 2nd Mindanao Blogging Summit in General Santos, I came across Matt Mullenweg’s name and discovered this is the guy behind Automattic and founder of WordPress and bbPress. I did check out his blog and saw the photo of this young lad with a cute face. Darn! This kid must have it all… looks, money (INC has declared Matt as one of their Top 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30), incredible mind (dropping out from University of Houston doesn’t prove anything…) and creative even.(wipes drool…) Just look and admire the template of his blog. Hay, it must be great having almost everything at 24…
